Experience

I've been teaching privately for 10 years and and as a peripatetic music teacher in Luton and Bedfordshire schools since moving to the UK three years ago. I also provide group and masterclass sessions on a variety of subjects for local authority music services and on a freelance basis. I've also recently joined the team at New School of Music in Leighton Buzzard. For those interested in private tuition, I'm currently accepting students at my purpose-built studio in the Leagrave area of Luton (see photos right).

Approach

I focus on Time, Technique, Coordination, Reading and, above all Musicianship. In short, all the tools necessary to becoming a working professional player. Don't worry if your goals are more modest, we can tailor a curriculum to suit you. My goal is to help each student develop the facility to express themselves musically with relaxed, confident control.

Lessons and Fees

I currently offer 30-minute and 1 hour lessons as standard, though longer sessions can be arranged. For more information regarding fees and availability, contact me at boomkamusic@googlemail.com.

Study Materials

Lesson materials are drawn from a variety of sources, including my own productions, books, DVDs and musical examples. Check out the Drum Library for information about the resources I recommend and use most. I am also a member of the Vic Firth Education Team and the Percussive Arts Society and remain in regular contact with other members to learn about and discuss teaching methods and approaches.
